Basingstoke is a town in the county of Hampshire, in the South East of England. The town is situated approximately 32 miles (51 km) southwest of London and 18 miles (29 km) northeast of Winchester. Basingstoke is often referred to as a commuter town due to its proximity to London and the M3 motorway. The town has a population of approximately 107,000 people.

Basingstoke is an historic market town with a long and varied history. The town was first recorded in the Domesday Book in 1086, and has been home to a number of notable residents over the centuries, including Jane Austen, who lived in the town for a short period in the early 1800s.

Today, Basingstoke is a thriving commercial centre with a diverse economy. The town is home to a number of large businesses, including insurance company Zurich and mobile phone manufacturer HTC.
