About Coleshill in Swindon

Coleshill is a village in the civil parish of Swindon, Wiltshire, England. The village is about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) north of the town centre of Swindon, and just south of the M4 motorway. The A419 road passes through the village. The Great Western Main Line passes through Coleshill, and there is a railway station on the line, which is served by Great Western Railway.

Coleshill was recorded in the Domesday Book in 1086 as Coleselle, and in 1227 as Coleshull. The name Coleshill is derived from the Old English cōl + hyll, and means "cool hill".

The village has a primary school, a church, and a village hall. There are several businesses in the village, including a garage, a hairdresser, a newsagent, and a pub.
